EMS Focus 2009–2012
Giving Account of our Hope
Christian Witness in a Pluralistic World

The world is moving closer together. People with different faiths, ideologies, cultures, and social and economic backgrounds are searching for ways to come to terms with these differences. How can Christians bear witness to the good news of life in fullness for all people in such a pluralistic world? The EMS Focus invites churches and groups within the international EMS Fellowship to find answers to this question. Its main feature is the subject of “Giving Account of our Hope – Christian Witness in a Pluralistic World“.
Opening:
››› 21.6.2009 in Accra, Ghana
››› 27.9.2009 in Frankfurt a.M.

International Activities (2009–2012)
In this Focus, the Association of Churches and Missions in South Western Germany (EMS) aims at promoting and encouraging new experiences of faith and life within the context of religious and cultural diversity. Encounter and cooperation can enrich and renew our own spirituality. Clear Christian witness and peaceful coexis-
tence with people of other religions and cultures are not contradic-
tory. For this reason, the further aim of the EMS Focus is to sup-
port joint initiatives for the protection of human dignity, develop-
ment of just communities and to develop a “spirituality of life”.
EMS Focus includes four international ››› activities.

››› Reading the Bible through the Eyes of Another
››› Pilgrimage
››› Theological Training
››› Networking of Migrants' Centres

Project of the year 2010
Learning to live in Peace
150 years Schneller Schools in the Near East is exemplary for a long-term and successful support. Today, both Schneller Schools in Jordan and in Lebanon are forerunners of a modern, holistic education, which encourages a peaceful living-together. The foundation was laid in Jerusalem in 1860 by Johann Ludwig Schneller, a Pietist from Wurttemberg. On occasion of the jubilee you are asked to send your peace-wish to the children. Please join in our postcard-campaign!
