EMS Focus 2009–2012
“Giving account of our hope – Christian witness in a pluralist world”

The world is getting smaller: people with different faiths, worldviews, cultures, and social and economic backgrounds are seeking ways of coping with these differences. How can Christians witness to the good news of abundant life for all people, in such a diverse world? The EMS Focus invites churches and groups in the international EMS Fellowship to find answers to this question.

Reading the Bible with the eyes of another

In intercultural sharing with partners, groups read the Bible with new eyes. They study Bible stories telling of hope, crossing cultural and religious borders, and respect for others.

Theological training in the presence of others

Theology lecturers in different countries of the EMS Fellowship compare notes on how their relationship to other religions is expressed in the content and teaching methods of their courses.

Crossing borders: a pilgrimage

A group of participants from the international EMS Fellowship was on a faith journey through Jordan and Israel. They met people of differing faiths who work for peace and justice. Their reports and a film invite you to share in their experiences or organize a pilgrim trip on the topic of the focus.

Appreciating diversity – living community. Church and migration

Training sessions in international groups are a way of supporting congregations and institutions in opening up to the migrants living around about them, empowering them to be church together and contributing to combating factors like poverty that force people to migrate.
