Future for children

The Evangelical Association for the Schneller Schools (EVS) supports and accompanies the work of the Johann Ludwig Schneller School (JLSS) in Lebanon and the Theodor Schneller Schule (TSS) in Jordan. Christian and Muslim children live alongside one another in the two schools. They generally come from poor families that cannot afford school fees. After leaving school some of them can learn a manual trade in the school workshops. In 2010 the Schneller Schools are celebrating their 150th anniversary. As a support group, the EVS raises donations from private individuals, congregations and other church groups.

The EVS is one of the founding members of EMS and understands its work as part of the worldwide ecumenical relations in the EMS Fellowship. It works on a partnership basis with the churches sponsoring the Schneller Schools - the National Evangelical Church of Beirut and the Episcopal Church in Jerusalem and the Middle East.
Rev. Klaus Schmid has chaired the society since 1997.
