Ecumenical Learning
The BMDZ’s educational activities
God’s Spirit links people. The Basel Mission German Branch (BMDZ) understands itself as a bridge in the spirit of the Basel Mission. It links up with the historical heritage of the Basel Mission and supports the present activity, which is now carried on by mission 21.
With its educational activities it tries to raise interest in the topic of mission and thereby to link people up across national, denominational and cultural borders.
This happens through:
- Topical information from the partner churches of the BMDZ/mission 21
- Developing fields of learning around ecumenical, mission-related, development and intercultural topics
- Providing educational programmes on Mission Yesterday – Today – Tomorrow
The BMDZ offers a forum for encounter among people with an interest in the worldwide church. It organises exchanges between Christians from different partner churches in Africa, Asia and Latin America at round tables, encounters or workshops.
Ecumenical coworkers who deliberately go out to spend time in the global church, and who have lived at the grassroots in a partner church, share their intercultural, ecumenical and mission experiences and learning in BMDZ. Church congregations and interested persons find there:
- Speakers for local church events and seminars
- Information on partner churches and countries
- Advice on questions of mission, ecumenism and direct partnerships
- Suggestions and support for grappling with mission today
- Seminars and events on mission and partnership
- Support in preparing acts of worsh
