Liaison Desk Indonesia
The Indonesia Desk is one of the EMS liaison desks. The task of the Liaison Desk is to serve as a connecting link between the overseas partner churches and the German member churches and organisations as well as the ecumenical community. The Liaison Desk works together with nine churches in Indonesia. Almost all of them have grown from the work of Dutch missionary societies. Each of the EMS partnerships results from a proposal by the Communion of Churches in Indonesia (PGI) to place greater significance on links between these churches and Europe.
The scope of work of the Indonesia Liaison Desk comprises:
- Cooperating in contents and finances with the partner churches in programmes on fighting poverty, health care and vocational training,
- Providing financial support to the church structure of the partners,
- Organising and coordinating ecumenical staff exchanges with the partner churches.
- Sending young adults to parishes and institutions of the partner churches as part of the Volunteer Programme of the EMS.
- Promoting exchanges of parishes of the EMS member churches through their partnerships with Indonesian parishes.
- Holding conferences and partnership seminaries on current topics of Indonesia,
- Public relations work in congregations and church groups on current developments in Indonesia and in projects of our partners.
