Ecumenical Youth Volunteers Programme (ÖFP)

The Ecumenical Youth Volunteers Programme (ÖFP) offers young Christians from Africa, Asia, Germany and the Middle East the chance to live and work on social projects run by the churches of the EMS community. In practical terms, this means that a young woman from Indonesia can come to Germany, a young woman from Germany can go to Japan or at the same time, a volunteer from Germany and a young man from Ghana do an internship in youth work of one of the South Korean partner churches. For a period of six to twelve months, the young people, who are between 18 and 30 years old, get to know the global context and the world-wide church.

The annual project for 2008/2009 Women living in a strange land – mission and migration focuses the attention of the EMS Fellowship to the situation of migrant women in East Asia and other countries. Groups and individuals are invited to engage creatively with the issue and take part in a join-in campaign.
